Last summer I went on taking a lot of jobs and gathered a lot of money, always with a ulterior motive, to travel! I've never travelled that much and I feel I'm missing a great experience. I just turned 26 and the first place I've always wanted to visit was Japan.
After sharing my ideas with my family, they all said it would be too hard, because even if I know how to get around with English well, the fact is that Japanese don't speak it. (most of them anyway)
I wanted to insist on this, and try to get a reason to go there other than just tourist around, example:
- I could go and take my skateboard with me, try to get a job filming and editting some skate videos for japanese skaters, do you think this could work?
- Visit design and art studios, try to get in touch with konami and others and ask if I could visit, however I'd still be pretty much on my own and with a lot of free time.
- Try to get a collaborative workshop of sorts?
Anyway, I have no idea on how to give these ideas a try just yet, but I just wanna hear your opinion... whether or not this is worth it.. everyone keeps saying 'you'll go there some day, don't worry' - but I want to go there now, not when I'm old and have a lot of money and time, but no energy.
P.S. - I did think about travelling agencies, but while those are very costly, I'll still feel (a lot) like a tourist
